The television networks

MediaWorks TV owns and operates TV3, FOUR, C4 and TV3plus1.

MediaWorks TV is a division of MediaWorks NZ Limited, and operates New Zealand’s privately-owned free-to-air channels TV3 and FOUR. All the MediaWorks television channels are available via free-to-air digital broadcast. In addition TV3 and FOUR offer an online on-demand service.

Television New Zealand owns and operates TV One, TV2, U, TV ONE+1, Heartland and Kidzone.

TVNZ operates four commercial free-to-air digital channels (TV ONE, TV ONE+1 and U) and two pay TV channels (Heartland and Kidszone). Many of TVNZ’s programs are also available via TVNZ’s Ondemand.

Creating a television commercial

If you’re looking for an advertising,  media or PR agencies, the Communication Agencies Association of New Zealand (CAANZ) can help.  CAANZ  is the industry association for advertising and communication agencies and have members details on their website at www.caanz.co.nz.

 

It is worth considering that many smaller communications agency are not members of CAANZ. The most comprehensive listing of agencies is AdMedia’s Agencies & Clients directory. A free option is AdMedia’s ranking of independent agencies.

Commercial Approvals Bureau (CAB)

Television broadcasters make it a condition that all advertisements are approved and classified by CAB before they can be broadcast. For more information on how to get your script and finished commercial approved visit www.commercialapprovals.co.nz.

Association of New Zealand Advertisers (ANZA)

ANZA was formed in 1931 to provide New Zealand advertisers with a collective voice in dealing with government, media, advertising agencies and other organisations integral to the advertising industry. You can find out more on their website at www.anza.co.nz.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA)

The prime function of the ASA is to self-regulate advertising in New Zealand. Advertising Codes of Practice provide the rules by which all advertisements in all media should comply.  To find out more, click here www.asa.co.nz.
