The key facts

1. TV reaches more kiwis than any other media

Every day television reaches over 3 million New Zealanders. This is not surprising when you consider that 99% of all Kiwi households have at least one television set and over half have more than two.

No other media can match this reach and scale.

2. We’re watching more television than ever before

In 2011 the average viewer spent 3 hours and 22 minutes a day watching television (2012, Nielsen TAM).

This is an increase of 19.5% since 2007 and 2.5% up from 2009. It is now abundantly clear that the growth of online media is not at the expense of television watching.

4. TV advertising is at the heart of effective marketing

The numerous, and impartial, effectiveness studies and advertiser case studies show just how potent television advertising really is.

5. Kiwi television is a bargain

Like-for-like advertising in press, radio and magazines is 50% to 75% more expensive that television in New Zealand.

Peak CPM’s in Australia are on average 150% more expensive than in New Zealand.
