MediaWorks announce new 7pm format for TV3

MediaWorks is thrilled to announce a reinvention of weeknights at 7pm, bringing New Zealand a new style of
programm e in early 2017 with The Project.

With hosts to be named shortly, The Project will combine current affairs and entertainment in a unique way, offering
audiences an intelligent, informative and engaging half-hour mix of the stories that matter from New Zealand and
around the world.

The hosts will be joined each night by a variety of panelists to discuss the stories of the day, including guest
appearances by New Zealand’s best broadcaster Paul Henry. Panelists will include Newshub journalists and
presenters, comedians, sport, political and other personalities, made up of a large list of notable New Zealanders
from a range of fields.

“ The Project is news delivered differently,” said Hal Crawford, MediaWorks’ Chief News Officer.

“At its core will be strong, compelling storytelling. We’ll be looking for new ways to explore issues that resonate
with New Zealanders, bringing a fresh or unique perspective . We will continue to build on the momentum created
by the team who delivered Story. Many of them will be a major part of this new programme and will continue to
deliver incredible stories. We a re sorry to see Story go but believe The Project is the right format for this timeslot.”

MediaWorks’ Chief Content Officer Andrew Szusterman said:

We have the best news service in the country, and the best comedy talent across the board, so the opportunity to
create a hybrid programme that really resonates with viewers was too good to miss.”

“We’ve seen the strong success of this format in Australia and can’t wait to bring New Zealand its very own
version.”

The Project will launch in early 2017.
